DeGraff’s competing values diagram represents the modern concept of Competing Values Leadership developed by Jeff DeGraff. The Competing Values Framework (CVF) was introduced in reply to the need for a generally applicable model that would nurture effective leadership, advance organizational efficiency, and encourage value creation. Named one of the 40 most important frameworks in the history of business by Financial Times, the CVF is the result of over 25 years of academic research, and it is currently applied at hundreds of companies around the world.

The DeGraff’s PowerPoint diagram is showing the four basic competing values within every enterprise: Collaborate, Create, Compete and Control. These values compete in a very real sense for the limited resources allocated within an organization, such as funding, time, and people. It is a unique approach to analyzing diversity within an organization. The DeGraff diagram illustrates the identified values as displayed in the Competing Value Framework, and then been able to prioritize and strategize in order to take advantage of their strengths and build weak areas. How leadership reacts to the problems created between these competing values will shape a company’s culture, practices, and products, and finally, how successful they will be in creating value.

DeGraff’s competing values diagram for PowerPoint presentation is a circular PowerPoint diagram split into four sections. The diagram contains three inner circles organized to look like a target board. The inner part is where the person’s name can be inserted. The second circle is for the person’s qualities that are relevant to the titles that encompassing the framework. The person’s purpose can is to be put in the last circle.
