Let’s begin by exploring the different ways you can import images to PowerPoint. All of these steps also apply when you’re just trying to add a single image.

How to Insert Multiple Images in PowerPoint

Copy-paste method (offline images):

Simply find the pictures you need to add into your PowerPoint presentation, select them all, and copy them. Now go to PowerPoint, select the slide you want to add the images to, and simply paste the images. The selected images will appear on the slides. You can now adjust them individually onto your slides.

Insert Menu in PowerPoint

Click on Insert, in the PowerPoint ribbon, and then select Pictures.

You can upload pictures from your device, or the internet, or even find stock images for your presentation. To add multiple images, simply select all of them and add them to your slide.

Photo Album feature in PowerPoint

PowerPoint also has a photo album feature that you can use to import multiple images to your PowerPoint slides.

To access this, go to Insert, and select Photo Album.

A dialog box will appear where you can select pictures to insert into the slide.

The Album Layout option gives you a few options that you can use to arrange the images in your slides, which makes it easy when you’re working with many images.

Using Layouts in PowerPoint

You can use layouts available in PowerPoint to import multiple images onto your slides.

Layouts are accessible by clicking on Home in the ribbon, and going to the Slides section, and clicking on the arrow next to Layout.

These layouts give you placeholders that you can use to insert content into your slides easily. The idea is to choose a layout that have image placeholders, which you can use to easily insert images into your slides.

But in case you can’t find a layout for multiple images that you like, you can always create your own with Slide Master.

You can do this by going to View and selecting Slide Master.

Once you’re in the Slide Master view, click on Insert Layout, and a new slide will appear. This new slide will appear as a new layout, so make the changes on it. Click on Insert Placeholder and select Picture. Arrange multiple placeholders, and once you’re done, click on View, and select Normal to go back to the normal view.

Now when you go to Home, and click Layout, you will be able to see the new layout. You can use this new layout that you created to quickly add multiple images on your PowerPoint slide.

Using shapes to insert multiple images into PowerPoint

This is another easy way to not only insert multiple images in PowerPoint, but also to arrange them in your slide easily. Begin by

Adding multiple shapes onto your slide. Arrange and format them on your slide. Think of them as image placeholders when you do.

When you’re done arranging the shapes, right-click the shape and select Format Shape. Now in the sidebar, select Fill and Line, and select Picture or texture fill. Insert the image you want, and the image will appear in the shape of the shape. You can change how the image appears as well. Do this by clicking on the image, and clicking on Picture Format in the ribbon. Then click on Crop, and drag the handles of the image to crop and adjust it till you get what you want.

Repeat the above steps with the other images and in no time you’ll have imported a bunch of images onto your slide.

Using SmartArt to insert multiple images into PowerPoint

Like the above step, you can also insert SmartArt, and use them to import multiple images onto your slide.

Formatting Multiple Images in PowerPoint

To format multiple images, you first need to select them all (ctrl+A, or hold CTRL and click and select all images). You can then drag the handles on the corners and sides of the images.

To get exact height and width.

Now if you want all these images to have the same height and width, then after selecting them, go to Picture Format in the ribbon, and find the Size category. Next to Height and Width, enter a value (the result will be in centimeters) and your images will get resized instantly.

You can also use SmartArt to format and arrange multiple images in your PowerPoint presentations.

Select all the images in your slide, and then click on Picture Format in the ribbon, and then click on Picture Layout. Hover your mouse over the different options available to preview how they would look like. Find the one you prefer, click on it, and you’ll have neatly arranged the pictures in your PowerPoint presentation.

If any of the images appear cropped, and if you want to adjust the cropping, click on the picture and then on Picture Format. Now click on Crop, and this will let you adjust the cropping on the image you’ve selected.

Blending multiple images in PowerPoint:

You can even use the tools inside PowerPoint to blend images together in PowerPoint.

Select all the images you want to blend, and then right-click and select Format Picture.

Under the Effects tab in the sidebar, try adjusting the Soft Edges Size. Once you apply a soft edge to your pictures, you will be able to reposition the pictures and blend them together.

Crop multiple images by cropping to shape

Select the images you want to crop, and then click on Picture Format in the ribbon. Now click on Crop, and only one option will be available in the drop-down menu; Crop to Shape. Click on it and select a shape, and your images will instantly get cropped to that shape.
